Spravato® (Esketamine) Therapy:
A New Path for Treatment-Resistant Depression
If you’ve tried two or more antidepressants and still haven’t found relief, you aren't alone—and you aren't out of options. At Peak Balance Mental Health, we specialize in Spravato® (esketamine) nasal spray, an FDA-approved treatment specifically designed for adults with treatment-resistant depression (TRD) and depressive symptoms in adults with major depressive disorder (MDD) with suicidal thoughts or actions.
Unlike traditional oral antidepressants that can take weeks to work, Spravato® targets different pathways in the brain to provide rapid-acting relief.
What is Spravato®?
Spravato® is a prescription nasal spray that is taken along with an oral antidepressant. It is the first FDA-approved medication in its class, utilizing esketamine to help repair neural connections in the brain that have been damaged by chronic depression.
Because of the unique nature of the medication, it must be administered in a certified healthcare setting like Peak Balance Mental Health, under the direct supervision of our Medical provider and and mental health team.

Have tried at least two other antidepressant medications without adequate improvement.
Are looking for a medically supervised, interventional approach to mental wellness.
*Note on Safety: Patients must have a designated driver to take them home after each session, as the medication can cause temporary drowsiness or dissociation.
Frequently Asked Questions about Esketamine
Does insurance cover Spravato®?
Many insurance providers do cover Spravato® for treatment-resistant depression. Our office will work hard along with your insurance to ensure the treatments will be covered, allowing you to focus on getting better. We also offer cash-pay options and can provide documentation for out-of-network reimbursement.
How many sessions will I need?
Treatment typically begins with two sessions per week for the first month, eventually transitioning to once a week or once every two weeks during the maintenance phase. Your specific schedule will be determined by our provider during your initial evaluation.
How is Spravato® different from Ketamine infusions?
While both use forms of ketamine, Spravato® (esketamine) is FDA-approved for depression and is administered as a nasal spray, whereas "IV Ketamine" is typically used off-label and administered via an intravenous drip.
